Infractions refer to intentional violations of the Overlook Bay Wiki's policies due to which violators may be issued sanctions or punishment. Sanctions are not issued for violations to the wiki's guidelines, as they are only present to guide users and editors.
Sanctions Policy
Sanctions are generally only issued in accordance to this policy, unless in certain circumstances where the violator has been an abrupt and negative user.
- Sanctions will never be issued to users that unintentionally violate the wiki's policies.
- Violations to Fandom's Terms of Use, whether intentional or unintentional, will be reported to Fandom Staff regardless.
- Users will not be punished for local policy violations that went unnoticed for a long period of time.
- If a user violated a local policy in the past, assuming that it has been a while since they violated the policy, they will not be punished for it.
- Users may not remove warnings or reminders issued to them by members of the staff team until the warning or reminder expires.
- Warnings and reminders expire after 1 month from the date they were issued.
- Good faith will always be assumed.
- For example, if an editor makes an imperfect edit that does not abide by the Manual of Style, they will at most receive a warning. Sanctions or blocks are never issued to users that are not disruptive and are simply trying to help.
Warnings and reminders
Warnings and reminders are the preliminary form of punishment granted to users that violate the wiki's policies unintentionally. They do not get placed on the user's permanent record and are only issued to help users improve and reflect upon their actions.
- Reminders: Reminders are issued for unintentional policy violations by new users. These are generally issued to users to ask them to read the wiki's policies.
- Warnings: Warnings are issued to users that cause disruption within the community. A user may at most get 2 warnings before receiving an official sanction, assuming that the user does not directly violate a major policy.
Blocking Scheme
Blocks are generally a last-resort form of punishment for users that violate the wiki's policies intentionally over a short period of time. Users that do not violate Fandom's Terms of Use will never receive a direct block and will receive several warnings and reminders prior to being officially sanctioned. The blocking scheme has been kept as lenient as possible and only applies to users that clearly require being disciplined. This includes users that constantly cause drama, indulge in edit wars, etc. even after being reminded prior by the staff member.

Users that violate Fandom's Terms of Use, such as trolls, raiders, and phishers will not be issued cooldown blocks. This includes minor violations to the Talk it out! or violations to the Content policies. |
| 1 day | Users that constantly violate the wiki's policies even after being either warned or reminded several times, being issued prior cooldown sanctions, or anything similar to the latter, may be issued 1 day blocks. This includes disruptive editing such as edit farming and minor violations to the Speech and Coordination policies. |
| 3 days | Includes advertisement spam, public callouts, not coordinating with other wiki users, or violating the wiki's policies even after being issued multiple warnings or smaller sanctions. |

| 1 week | These sanctions are issued to users that carry out extremely libelous discussions or harassment, such as flame wars, personal attacks, usage of derogatory terms in an explicit way, and hateful callouts. May also be issued to users for violating the wiki's policies even after being issued multiple 3-day sanctions. |
| 2 week | These sanctions are issued to users that cause constant disruption within the community, violate multiple major local policies, or carry out discussions aimed towards strong political beliefs or illegal activities. This infraction may be exercised upon users that choose to use the wiki as a source to scam or manipulate other users within the game. |

| 1+ month(s) | These sanctions include extreme violations to the either the wiki's policies, Fandom's Terms of Use, or other global policies. Includes any content that is obscene, pornographic, abusive, offensive, profane, or otherwise violates any law or right of any third party, or content that contains homophobia, transphobia, ethnic slurs, religious intolerance, or encourages criminal conduct, such as discussions related to the promotion of terrorism and other militant activities, or users that show signs of predatory behavior and/or promote grooming. These sanctions may also be issued to users that carry out excessively libelous discussions, target other users, promote the idea of extortion or blackmail, users that intentionally violate the wiki's policies even after being issued previous smaller sanctions and/or violate Roblox's Terms of Use. |
Appealing
All users that are a part of the Overlook Bay Wiki may appeal any sanctions, issued in the form of blocks. Warnings and reminders are not appealable as they expire after 1 month regardless. A fair chance is granted to every user that wants to appeal. Appeals are handled internally by members of the staff team. The staff team is generally very lenient when it comes to accepting appeals, and if it is evident that a user has learnt from their mistakes, we will not hesitate to unblock them. There are three ways through which users can appeal:
- Overlook Bay Wiki: Blocked users are generally issued a block notice. To contest their block, users can leave a reply to their block notice which would notify the blocking administrator.
- Community Central: Users are free to contest their block(s) on Community Central by messaging their blocking administrator on their message wall.
Format
All users are expected, but are not obliged to abide by the following format while appealing:
- Appeals should preferably be divided into two paragraphs.
- The first paragraph should describe the reason as to why the user thinks they were blocked. The user should reflect upon their actions in this section and realize that their actions were wrong.
- The second paragraph should be a brief overview of what the user would do in order to not get blocked again, such as re-reading the Policies and Guidelines.
- Users are expected to not "beg" for an unblock. An unblock will be granted to a user if the administration deems it appropriate.
- Users must not spam administrators' message walls or the #help-desk channel in the wiki's Discord server.
Outcomes
There are three outcomes that an appeal may be met with after being read over by the staff team. Please note, these outcomes may not always depend on the user's appeal itself, but also their actions. For example, it is unlikely that a user with a history of harassing users with prior sanctions will be unblocked.
- Accepted: A successful appeal would lead to the user's block being completely lifted.
- Shortened: If a user's appeal is deemed to be decent enough by the staff team to be qualified under "successful", but not good enough to completely lift their block, then their block will be shortened.
- Declined: Appeals are only declined in rare scenarios. Appeals made by users that are clearly disruptive and are unwilling to reflect upon their actions are generally declined.
