Featured articles refer to articles on the Overlook Bay Wiki that have exceptionally well-written as well as original content that provides information related to certain in-game aspects in the most informative and precise manner possible. These are some of the best articles present on the wiki and are used by editors to frame other articles. A featured article is denoted by a golden star located at the top right corner of the article's main header, and are also showcased on the wiki's main page.
Process
Before being classified as a featured article, articles are subject to meeting a few criteria set by the wiki's staff team.
Criteria
Articles can be considered as a nominee for the featured status if it is:
- notable: articles should be notable and easily searchable by users browsing the wiki, and should have a supportive title;
- properly formatted: articles should always follow the manual of style and should be formatted accordingly;
- uniform: articles are to only be formatted using American English. Punctuation may follow British or Canadian variants where relevant;
- properly linked: lonely pages, also known as orphaned pages are pages that do not have any links on the wiki leading to them. Similarly, the page should contain links to relevant articles or external sources wherever required;
- well-cited: articles should follow up with citations in case they are presenting uncertain information. These citations must be from reliable sources;
- respectful: articles should be compliant with the diversity and equality policies, and must use proper pronouns without any uncertain assumptions;
- precise: information presented must not be confusing or difficult for an average reader to understand;
- compliant: articles should be written in compliance with the manual of style.
Nomination
Articles that meet the aforementioned criteria may be nominated either on the wiki discussion forums or on an administrator's message wall. Decisions relating to adding the featured status to an article will always be made internally between the members of the staff team, which will carefully evaluate the content on an article before presenting its decision. The nomination process goes as follows:
- any user, regardless of their status, has to nominate an article either on the wiki's forums or on an administrator's message wall;
- an administrator unrelated to the request would then evaluate that request and follow-up with the rest of the members of the staff;
- if the staff agrees to grant said article the featured status, the administrator would add {{Featured Article}} to the bottom of the article, under the main navigation box, and inform the user that nominated the article through either a reply to their forum message, or their message on an administrator's message wall;
- if, for whatsoever reason, the staff decides to decline the addition of the article to the featured program, the reason will be provided by the administrator handling the request, as well as recommendations to improve the article.
