The Sponge Rob was a legendary pet in Overlook Bay that was released on June 25, 2021. It was one of the rewards from the Fishing Pass and could have been obtained by reaching level 95 in fishing, until it was completely removed from the game. On July 27, 2021, the Sponge Rob pet was officially removed from Overlook Bay for reasons that have not been officially disclosed or announced.[1] A replacement for this pet is planned to be added along with the Overlook RP Update.[2]
All players that owned the Sponge Rob pet lost access to it, and it was completely removed from their inventory. Players that owned this pet prior to its removal were tracked and stored in a database,[3] and were also granted a compensation of 5,000. It was officially confirmed that a replacement pet would be granted to those that previously owned the Sponge Rob pet.[4] It was also confirmed that players that are level 95 or more in fishing, regardless of whether they traded away their Sponge Rob or not, would receive the replacement pet along with the compensation.
Players that owned the pet, upon joining a server after its removal, were prompted by a dialogue box stating that the pet had been removed from the game and that they had been granted a compensation of 5,000.(view)
Appearance[]
The Sponge Rob is mainly yellow in color, has two black beady eyes, a pair of pink blushes on both cheeks, and yellow-colored eyebrows. The Sponge Rob appears to be wearing a white-colored shirt and cyan-colored beach shorts adorned with flowers, leaf, and pineapple patterns.

Shiny Appearance[]
In its Shiny form(view), the Sponge Rob emits yellow-colored particles. The nametag color of the Sponge Rob switches to a vibrant yellow color.
Rainbow Shiny Appearance[]
In its Rainbow Shiny form(view), the Sponge Rob emits particles which cycle through various different colors, every particle is differently colored than the other, dissimilar to its shiny counterpart. Each particle varies in size and shape. The nametag of the Sponge Rob cycles through the colors of the rainbow.

- Sponge Rob was the second pet that could be obtained through leveling up in a certain activity, that is, fishing. The first pet that introduced this aspect was the Phoenix Cat.
- A replacement pet for the Sponge Rob will be added to the game by October, 2021, as confirmed by Wonder Works Studio on their Instagram Q&A.[6]
