Overlook Bay Wiki
Legacy article
Pickaxes is a legacy article and documents information related to the original Overlook Bay.

Pickaxes are special tools in Overlook Bay which players can purchase either using Emeralds. Players can also obtain a special pickaxe from the Mining Pass by reaching level 50 in mining. Pickaxes were introduced to Overlook Bay alongside the Halloween Event (2020) update, which is when mining was first introduced to Overlook Bay. Before the Overlook RP Update, players could previously purchase pickaxes using Gems or Robux from The Crystal Cavity present in the Surface Area.

Molten Mines Pickaxe Error Message

The error message a user receives when they try to use a pickaxe in the Molten Mines.

Pickaxes cannot be used to mine crystals in the Molten Mines.

Perks[]

The better the pickaxe, the more XP and Luck the player gets upon mining a crystal. Better pickaxes also take relatively lesser hits to break crystals.

Luck[]

A player's luck determines the crystal they would be getting. The higher the luck multiplier on the pickaxe, the better the crystal the player would receive. Some pickaxes award players with luck multipliers while mining, such as x2 Luck, x3 Luck, etc.

Hits/HTB[]

Hits, as referred to in-game, also known as "Hits to Break", is the total amount of hits a pickaxe requires to break a crystal. The better the pickaxe, the lower would the amount of required hits be.

XP[]

XP is a main aspect of mining and helps players level up and earn the rewards stated in the Mining Pass. Better pickaxes offer perks such as x2 XP, x3 XP, or better.

How to Use[]

Crystal in Crazed Caverns

A crystal in the Surface Area of the Crazed Caverns.

In order to use a pickaxe to mine a crystal, players need to equip their pickaxe through their inventory, head over to the Surface Area, and find a crystal to pickaxe. Players can use a pickaxe to mine at the Surface Area of the mines, but not the Molten Mines.

Players have to simply stand neck-and-neck to their desired crystal with their drill equipped and either tap on the crystal (for mobile devices), or use their cursor to click the crystal (for PC), to start hitting it. Depending on how good the drill is, it will take a few hits for a crystal to break. Unlike drills, this process is manual and requires players to click the Left Mouse Button (on PC), or tap on the crystal (for mobile devices) until it breaks.

Once the player breaks the crystal, they can interact with it (Press 'E' for PC, tap on the interaction button for mobile devices) to pick it up and add it to their inventory.
