Overlook Bay Pets refer to pets in Overlook Bay that either became unobtainable after the Overlook RP Update or were only available for a limited period of time.
For convenience, these pets have been classified under three separate categories on this article page:
- Standard: Pets that could have been obtained out of always-available pet pods (found in the Pet Store) or could have been obtained in exchange for
Gems. These pets became unobtainable after the update along with Ocean Pets. Players that had any of these pets in their inventory prior to the update retained their ownership and the pets simply became unavailable for newer players to obtain by their standard means. These pets can now only be obtained through trading or through the gifting system in Overlook Bay. If a player still owns a standard pod in their inventory or trade for one, they may open it to obtain a standard pet. - Ocean: Ocean Pets were added to Overlook Bay on June 18, 2021, alongside the Pet Shop (Underwater) and Arcadia Depths area, as a part of the Arcadia Isle Expansion update. Ocean Pets became unobtainable post-update, and the only way to obtain them in-game now is either through trading or by using the gifting system. If a player still owns an ocean pod in their inventory or trade for one, they may open it to obtain an ocean pet.
- Dev Pals: Dev Pals were introduced to the game on August 6, 2021. Players could show their support towards the developers of Overlook Bay by adopting a Dev Pal.[1] Dev Pals became unobtainable post the Overlook RP Update and could only be obtained through trading or gifting.
- Special: These pets were only granted to a specific set of players and cannot be obtained through their original means anymore. They can only be acquired by trading for them using the in-game trading menu, or by being gifted one of these pets through the Post Office. They left the game long before the pets classified under 'Standard' did.
Note: The Sponge Rob pet has been listed under the removed pets list and has been omitted from being displayed under this article due to it not being a pet that players retained in their inventory post the Overlook RP Update.

Ocean Pets could have been obtained either out of the Bubble Pod, Pearl Pod, or Treasure Pod, which are pet pods that could have been purchased from the underwater Pet Shop, or could have been directly purchased in exchange for Robux. The Mermaid, however, was an exclusive Ocean Pet that was purchasable for 15,000 for a limited period of time.

Dev Pals[]
Overlook Bay's thumbnail during the Dev Pals update.
Dev Pals are pets in Overlook Bay that are based on the Roblox avatars of developers or contributors that, in some way, contributed towards the game's development. Such pets have their names based on the developers they are based on, which is either the formal name or a well-known nickname of the developer. Dev Pals can be obtained out of the Dev Pod, which costs 850. The Dev Pod and subsequently, Dev Pals became unobtainable post the Overlook RP Update and could only be obtained through trading or gifting.
There are a total of 10 Dev Pals, of which 2 are uncommon, 3 are rare, 3 are ultra-rare, 1 is legendary, and 1 is godly. Players can obtain a Dev Pal of a certain rarity out of the Dev Pod as per the following chances:
- Uncommon: 30% chance
- Rare: 47% chance
- Ultra-Rare: 15% chance
- Legendary: 6% chance
- Godly: 2% chance

History[]
Dev Pals were added to Overlook Bay on August 6, 2021, a day after the Birthday Celebration Event (2021) had ended, and this update was officially announced by Zach Letter, the CEO of Wonder Works Studio in their official Discord server.[1] WonderWorksZach also announced that the Extinction Event (2021) would be releasing approximately a week after the update, which would be on August 13, 2021, on the same announcement as a teaser. However, just ten days after the update, the Lead Programmer of Overlook Bay Tyler (StarWars) announced on Wonder Works Studio's Discord server that they would be leaving Wonder Works Studio on August 23, 2021, and would instead be focusing on their future endeavors.[2]
