The Mermaid is a mythic pet in Overlook Bay which was released on July 2, 2021, as Part 4 of the Arcadia Isle Expansion. It could have been purchased from the Pet Shop (Underwater) for 15,000. The Mermaid officially went off-sale on July 11, 2021, at 23:59 Eastern Time.

Perks

The Mermaid grants players special perks while equipped.

• A normal Mermaid allows players to catch 2x Fish, or two fish at once. It also grants the player 2x Fishing XP while equipped.
• A Shiny Mermaid allows players to catch 3x Fish or three fish at once. It also grants the player 3x Fishing XP while equipped.
• A Rainbow Shiny Mermaid allows players to catch 4x Fish or four fish at once. It also grants the player 4x Fishing XP while equipped.

If players equip the Mermaid pet along with a fishing rod that offers players an XP multiplier while fishing, the XP of the Mermaid multiplier gets stacked on top of the base multiplier provided by the fishing rod.

Appearance

A normal Mermaid has blonde hair. She wears a hot pink top, and has a pink fish tail that slowly transitions to purple as it reaches the fins. It emits cream-colored clam-shaped particles while in-game.

Shiny Appearance

In its Shiny form^(view), the Mermaid's hair's color changes to pink. Its top's color changes to yellow, and its fish tail's and fins' color change to orange and pink respectively. It emits pink, cream, and yellow-colored clam-shaped particles while in-game. Its nametag color switches to yellow.

Rainbow Shiny Appearance

In its Rainbow Shiny form^(view), the Mermaid's hair's color changes to red. Subsequently, its top's color changes to green, and its fish tail's and fins' colors change to purple and blue respectively. It emits green, orange, blue, and purple-colored clam-shaped particles while in-game. Its nametag color cycles through several different colors.

• As stated by Wonder Works Studio, if a player equips a Rainbow Shiny Mermaid pet and goes fishing, they will be capable of earning up to 25,000 per hour. However, this is not feasible with only a Rainbow Shiny Mermaid and general fishing rods, which only makes an average of half this amount. In practice, only fishing in a body of water or lava that has a "Special" rarity fish assigned to it with Special Fish Bait (most preferably lava pools with the Hades Rod), while also having the Rainbow Shiny Mermaid pet equipped, can make an average of 19,000 net profit in an hour (~120 bait) of constant fishing. The 25,000 advertised may be related to the actual fish sell total after this procedure, but does not factor in deducting the price of the bait.
• The Rainbow Shiny Mermaid's thumbnail^(view) was designed by the Twitter user, @lalonyx.
• The Mermaid is the third pet added into the game which has the ability to evolve, with the first one being the Celebration Dragon and the second one being the Lady Bug.
• On one of their tweets, Wonder Works Studio depicted the Mermaid to resemble the "Aquarius" zodiac sign.
• The Mermaid is one of the victims of the duplication scandal.
