The Extinction Event (2021) was released on August 13, 2021, and was the successor to the Birthday Celebration Event (2021), which was the previous event that took place in Overlook Bay. The Extinction Event brought along several pets, vehicles, personal vehicles, tools, furniture items, and a house. It also introduced a new quest with 15 unlockable items.[1]
This event was confirmed by Wonder Works Studio's Official Twitter account via a tweet stating that the Extinction Event (2021) will be released on August 13, 2021, 12 P.M. Eastern Time. However, on August 13, Wonder Works Studio stated that the update had been delayed due to a meteor striking the Museum of Serendipity, and would instead be released at 3 P.M. Eastern Time.[2]

Artifact Hunt[]
The event introduced a gameplay aspect similar to that of the Easter Event (2021), Artifact Hunting. Along with Artifact Hunting, it also added the Artifact Hunt Pass, which rewards players with special items that include personal vehicles, vehicles, collectibles, tools, Artifact Tree Seeds, and the special Meteor pet.
Players can find special artifacts scattered across 45 different locations in Overlook Bay and pick them up in order to gain one Artifact per artifact collected, which was a currency introduced during the event. As players collect more artifacts scattered across Overlook Bay, they gain Artifacts.
Upon collecting a certain amount of Artifacts, players can open up the Artifact Hunt Pass' GUI by clicking on the "Extinction Event" button towards the left of their screen and claim certain items from the Artifact Hunt Pass. Players only have to collect a certain amount of Artifacts to obtain these items, not spend them.

Artifact Hunt Pass[]
The Artifact Hunt Pass was another addition to the Extinction Event (2021) which features 15 different items that players could obtain simply by going Artifact Hunting and collecting Artifacts.
Similar to Egg Hunt Pass, players only have to hit a certain amount of artifacts to obtain items from the Artifact Hunt Pass, and do not have to spend their Artifacts. This means that if a player collects a certain amount of Artifacts, they will get the reward attributed to that said amount of artifacts without having to spend anything.
The Artifact Hunt Pass features the following items which players can obtain by going Artifact Hunting.
