Drills are special tools in Overlook Bay which players can purchase either using Emeralds. Players can also obtain a special drill from the Mining Pass by reaching level 100 in mining. Drills were introduced to Overlook Bay alongside the Molten Mines update, and have become a part of the Gameplay aspect of Overlook Bay. Drills can be used to mine crystals in both the Crystal Caverns of the Crazed Caverns as well as the Molten Mines. Before the Overlook RP Update, players could previously purchase drills using
Gems or
Robux from The Crystal Cavity present in the Molten Mines.
Perks[]
The better the drill, the more XP the player gets upon mining a crystal. Additionally, the player obtains a higher 'Luck' value. This means they have a higher chance of receiving a better crystal which can then be sold in exchange for more Emeralds. Better drills also take relatively lesser time to break crystals.
Luck[]
A player's luck determines the crystal they would be getting. The higher the luck multiplier on the drill, the better the crystal the player would receive. Some drills award players with luck multipliers while mining, such as x2 Luck, x3 Luck, etc.
STB[]
Seconds to Break or STB, as referred to in-game, is the total amount of time a drill requires to break a crystal. The better the drill, the lower would this time be. Drills can be used to mine in both the Crystal Caverns of the Crazed Caverns as well as the Molten Mines. The STB for a drill only accounts for the time it takes to break a crystal in the Molten Mines.
In the Crystal Caverns, a drill's damage value is multiplied by its Luck value in order to determine the amount of damage dealt to a crystal. The higher the STB value of a drill, the more damage would they deal to a crystal in the Crystal Caverns.
XP[]
XP is a main aspect of mining and helps players level up and earn the rewards stated in the Mining Pass. Better drills offer perks such as x2 XP, x3 XP, or better.

How to Use[]

A crystal in the Crystal Caverns.

A crystal in the Molten Mines.
In order to use a drill to mine or drill a crystal, players would need to equip their drill through their inventory, head over to the Crazed Caverns, and find a crystal to drill. Players can use a drill to mine at both the Crystal Caverns of the mines and also the Molten Mines.
Players have to simply stand neck-and-neck to their desired crystal with their drill equipped and either tap on the crystal (for mobile devices), or use their cursor to click the crystal (for PC), to break the it. Depending on how good the drill is, it will take a few seconds for a crystal to break. Unlike pickaxes, players only have to click once.
Once the player breaks the crystal, they can interact with it (Press E for PC, tap on the interaction button for mobile devices) to pick it up and add it to their inventory.
