Barnacle's Bait is a building in Overlook Bay which is located near the Movie Theater, by the pier along the river, and across the Pet Shop. This building can be utilized by players to purchase fishing rods and special bait, or to sell their fish and seashells in exchange for Emeralds. Formerly, fishing rods, special bait, and fish and seashells could have been sold for
Gems. Their prices were changed after the Overlook RP Update.
History[]

The Barnacle's Bait building in the Arcadia Isle.

The original Barnacle's Bait building, located at the beach.
Barnacle's Bait was initially found along the coast of Overlook Bay on the beach. It was, however, relocated to Marlin's Island after the fishing update in 2020. Prior to the Overlook RP Update, Barnacle's Bait was initially located in Marlin's Island, an island near the beach, and was also added to Arcadia Isle as a part of the Arcadia Isle Expansion. The one that was previously present in Arcadia Isle possessed the same appearance as the one present on Marlin's Island, but a different functionality and purchasable items.
The Barnacle's Bait building in Arcadia Isle could have previously been accessed by either the Hot Air Balloon for a fee of 50, or by traveling across the ocean using Ocean Personal Vehicles, whereas the building in Marlin's Island could initially be accessed by either a free boat ride from the beach pier or by traveling across the ocean using Ocean Personal Vehicles.
A special bait to catch a special fish could have been purchased from the Barnacle's Bait building in Marlin's Island, but not from the one in Arcadia Isle. All types of fish could initially be sold at either of the two buildings, but each sold different fishing rods. Both buildings contained the same NPC, Marlin Barnacle, who operated the shop.
Appearance[]
The Barnacle's Bait building is built on a sand with a wooden pier and it is located near river across the Pet Shop. The NPC, Marlin Barnacle which players can interact to purchase items, as well as a signboard signifying the selling price of fish can be found on the wooden pier outside the building.
Exterior[]
The structure of the building itself resembles a small tan-colored cottage with brown accents and a blue-colored roof. A large wooden signboard can be found at top of the building signifying the lettering "Barnacle's Bait", and a model of the Beginner's Fishing Rod can be found towards one side of the building. A model of the Sky Fish can also be found on the roof.
Interior[]
The interior of the building comprises the Fishing Pass board and the Fish Caught leaderboard. Several barrels and other fishing material can be found lying around inside the building.
Selling Items[]
Barnacle's Bait was the first shop to introduce the buying and selling aspect in the game of Overlook Bay, by enabling users to fish. Players could initially catch fish, then exchange them for Gems by paying a visit to Barnacle's Bait. However, after the Overlook RP Update, Fish (original fish or old fish) and Seashells can be sold to the NPC, Marlin Barnacle for
Emeralds.
Seashells[]
Prior to the Overlook RP Update, players could initially collect seashells since the start of Overlook Bay, and were one of the most important aspects of the game. Seashells could initially be found and collected from riverbeds or on the beach, merely by either pressing E on PC or clicking on the interaction icon on touch screen devices. Similar to fish, seashells could be collected, taken to Barnacle's Bait and exchanged for Emeralds.
Even though these seashells are not in-game anymore, the below table provides information about these fish for historical purposes.

Fish[]
Before the Fishing update was released in Overlook Bay, there were only 5 different fish that players could obtain via fishing, that is, the Plop Fish (Legendary), Meg Fish (Ultra-Rare), Citrus Fish (Rare), Veggie Fish (Common) and Sky Fish (Common). Upon the release of the update, these fish were completely removed from the game and were neither obtainable, nor tradeable. These fish were further on replaced by Ocean fish, Lake fish and River fish, which added up to a total of 42 different types of obtainable fish. Later on, Molten Fish as well as Tropical and Deep Sea Fish were introduced to the game in the Crazed Caverns and Arcadia Isle Expansion updates respectively. All these new types of fish which were added during the fishing update, Molten Mines update, and Arcadia Isle Expansion update, were made unobtainable after the Overlook RP Update.
After the release of the Overlook RP Update, the number of in-game fish that players could catch was reduced to 13: 5 new fish, 1 remodeled fish, and 7 Molten Fish. All fish caught prior to the update were still exchangeable for Emeralds at Barnacle's Bait, and players were able to exchange the fish they had caught prior to the update even after the Overlook RP Update released.
